A large, tree-covered island appeared earlier this month in an isolated Canadian reservoir before completely disappearing. A boater shared images and video with local Rocky Avery, who told the CBC, "It was a pretty amazing sight to see, never seen anything like that in my 40 years in this country." Satellite imagery from late last month proved that the island in the Williston Reservoir was in fact real, but the landmass, which was estimated to be the size of about two football fields, has seemingly floated away. One explanation is that the reservoir is fuller than ever, which may have caused a landmass to break away from shore in the first place.
