A super rare black bamboo bloom is happening now at Leach Botanical Garden 🖤 This once-in-120-years bloom can be seen by the entrance to the Manor House. The unique bamboo grove was planted in the 1930s by the original Leach family. Around the world, all black bamboo blooms around the same time, which last happened around 1905! After this rare bloom, the plant dies, sadly—a cycle called “monocarpic death.” Leach is a 17-acre oasis in Portland, and is well worth a visit.
