Researchers at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in the United States have developed an experimental food technology that uses compounds derived from agricultural waste and discarded plastic bottles to produce protein-rich, 3D-printed snacks called µBites.
Engineered yeast converts the waste-derived compounds into protein and other food ingredients.
