The House passed a short-term measure to fund the federal government into early December on Tuesday as lawmakers look to avoid another government shutdown as they campaign for the midterm election. Members of Congress returned to Capitol Hill on Monday with the bill in mind, as the fiscal year ends at the end of September and a funding lapse loomed. The House passed the measure with a 370-48 vote showing strong bipartisan support. The Senate already approved the measure, which means it will now head to President Donald Trump for his signature. "We passed the C.R. and funded the goverment. Thanks to the House Republicans' leadership and the foresight back in July, we began the necessary processes to ensure that the government would not be shut down," House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said after the vote.
