Nothing says Tiger spirit quite like our first Kabbalat Shabbat of the year! 🐯🎶 And a lively one it was—complete with surprise guest shofar blowers and back up singers, traditional blessings, and some old AND new choreography. We loved welcoming Rabbi Sacks, Rabbi Hyatt, and Cantor Lehrman to the Strear Family Gym to help us kick off this year’s Kabbalat Shabbat schedule and celebrate together as a community. 💙 But one of the best parts of our first Kabbalat Shabbat is also one of our most treasured Tiger traditions. Each year, our 5th grade students and faculty form a human tunnel to welcome our newly minted kindergarten class—wearing their intentionally giant Class of 2039 T-shirts—into the gym and into a very special relationship with their new Hebrew Buddies. Throughout the year, 5th graders are paired with kindergarteners for various lunches together, giving our older students the chance to mentor some of our youngest Tigers, practice Hebrew together, and help their buddies...
