The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is cracking down on the cartel-driven firearm threat facing the United States. Nearly 6,000 firearms bound for Mexico have been intercepted by the agency since the start of 2026, according to ATF Director Rob Cekada.
