Like many institutions and individuals this morning, the Indiana University Bands mourns the passing of Purdue University Director of Bands Emeritus Al G. Wright. We would like to extend our deepest condolences and support for our friends at Purdue University, whom are wonderful colleagues in the Big Ten and in the state of Indiana. A legendary and highly influential person and musician in the collegiate band world and beyond, Dr. Wright and his wife Gladys contributed in countless ways to our profession. Having served as Director for Purdue Bands & Orchestras from 1954 to 1981, and as a continued impactful presence in the Big Ten Bands, Dr. Wright's leadership leaves an amazing legacy of service and musicianship that will be undoubtedly felt for generations to come. Our thoughts are with Gladys, the entire Wright family, and the Purdue Bands family as they grieve, reflect upon, and celebrate the outstanding life and career of this giant in the field of music. #IndianaBands #B1G
