As a photographer, one of the coolest things about this training camp and preseason has been to witness the incredible cinematographers of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” working their visual magic. Day in, day out, they are the embodiment of everything I’ve ever been taught about visual storytelling. More than capturing peak action and heartrending emotion - it’s also arriving early, staying late, always seeking the best light, and and never settling for “good” in the pursuit of “great”. The trip to Kansas City for a preseason game at Arrowhead Stadium was another chance for me to put into action the inspiration they’d given me over the past month. Midwest summer skies and a 7pm kickoff made for some incredible light during pregame, and I chased that light all over the field trying to make special frames.
