Eating as little as possible might feel like the fastest way to lose weight, but it can easily work against you.. When you spend the day under-eating, you’re much more likely to end up ravenous at night, craving everything in sight, and overeating once you finally let yourself eat. And constantly pushing calories lower can make it harder to get enough protein and nutrients, compromise training and recovery, and contribute to muscle loss. That matters because muscle is one of the biggest assets you have for your metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and long-term weight maintenance. Add a demanding career, poor sleep, and chronic stress on top of that, and the answer probably isn’t to put even more stress on your body by surviving on as little food as possible.
