You've probably heard this before, but what does that actually mean??👇 I think one of the biggest misconceptions about IEP meetings is that the parents are supposed to just sit there and listen while the professionals discuss and advise. But in case you didn't know, that's not how this process is supposed to work. Everyone in the IEP meeting brings a different area of expertise, from teachers to therapists to admin and yes, parents too. Your expertise (a deep understanding of your child) is something that no one else can bring to the table. You see the strengths that don’t always show up in an evaluation. You know what motivates them, what challenges them, what works at home, and what goals matter most for their future. Your perspective as their parent is an essential part of creating an IEP that truly meets your child’s needs.
