There are several words I can think of to describe myself this morning - plonker, eejit and wazzock - being some of them It is Monday and I rolled up at Caffe Nero in Witney, England for my first coffee of the day and blob time at its usual opening time of 7am.......and found a sign on the door telling me that because it is a public holiday here in the UK the cafe will open at 8am today. 🤬🤬😭😢😤 Working a 4 day on and 4 day off shift pattern in my salaried job means that I no longer have any concept of weeks, weekends and Fridays heralding the escape from the drudgery of work. The tide of my life is governed by the 4 days at work and the 4 days off. And as a shift worker if I am scheduled to work on a public holiday it is a normal day with no extra pay.
