My passion for Bentley motor cars is well known but what isn’t known is that there is another brand of car that I have loved since the age of 18 - when I had a ride in a Morgan Plus 8 owned by a friend of my father. Morgan has been building cars in Malvern, England since 1910 and is famous for its traditional construction, using an ash-wood body frame over a metal chassis. The classic Morgan shape evolved with the 4/4, introduced in 1936, and the company then deliberately retained and gradually evolved its unmistakable pre-war-inspired design for generations through cars such as the Plus 4 and Plus 8 - powered by the legendary Rover V8 engine that grew from 3.5 litres and 160bhp to 4.6 litres and 220bhp. The Plus 8 only weighed approx. 900kg so with the V8 engine the car was lively.
