Finning efficiency is not about kicking harder β itβs about transferring energy correctly. π¦΅π
When the kick starts from the hips, the movement travels through the entire leg:
π₯ Hips initiate the movement
β‘οΈ Thigh follows
β‘οΈ Knee stays relaxed
β‘οΈ Lower leg continues the motion
β‘οΈ Ankle stays extended
β‘οΈ Fin loads and releases the energy
The entire leg participates in displacing water, creating a longer and more efficient propulsion phase. The fin becomes the extension of the movement β not the source of it. πββοΈπ¨
Now compare this with a knee-dominant kick. β
When there is little or no movement from the hips, the knees start leading.
𦡠The knees move forward outside the bodyβs streamlined profile.
π The effective stroke becomes shorter.
β‘ Most of the force is concentrated on the lower leg and fin.
𧱠Frontal resistance increases.
π More muscular energy is required for less propulsion.
Instead of:
HIP β LEG β ANKLE β FIN β PROPULSION β
You get:
KNEE β FIN β ENERGY LOSS β...
