September marks my 5th anniversary of celebrating my photography but it also coincides with Suicide Awareness Prevention Month and today acknowledges CPTSD awareness day. So I thought it was only appropriate to be vulnerable and share what I’ve been trying to unpack and understand myself as we conclude the year.
I won’t offer cliches or an aesthetically curated slideshow but I can share my perspective and hopefully combat stigmas surrounding mental health and how it presents in everyday life.
I wrote that I’ve spent the last decade of my life trying to survive something that occurred to me, constantly thinking that I didn’t deserve to enjoy the same lives my friends and peers were living. I found my adult self hopefully optimistic that someone would save him the same way I hoped as an adolescent.
And while it’s been a burden to carry by sharing this I want to remove the shame that constantly surrounds the topic, to thank the people around me that I lean on everyday, and to move forw...
