Raya Health Update 🐉
Our Zoo team is keeping a close eye on female Komodo dragon, Raya, following some recent, concerning changes in her behaviour and appearance.
For the last week, our teams have been closely assessing Raya’s health. Through comprehensive assessments that have included bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasound, and a CT scan (performed off-site), Raya has received exceptional and individualized care. The next step is to perform an exploratory surgery this morning at the Wildlife Health & Science Centre.
As always, she will be carefully monitored throughout the procedure and during recovery by the dedicated professionals who know her best. We hope to have Raya back in her habitat at the Australasia Pavilion as soon as possible, but she will be behind the scenes as she heals. Our young male, Komo, will still be viewable.
