A crowd of 5,360 fans packed Corbett Stadium on Saturday night for the football Spring Game. Fans showed out for street fest outside the stadium, cheered through the alumni flag football game at halftime, and got their first look at the future of the team under head coach Alex Golesh. Freshman quarterback Locklan Hewlett impressed in his debut, completing 13-of-14 passes for 110 yards and tossing three touchdowns. Wide receiver Brandon Winton hauled in two of those scores, including a 29-yarder, while JeyQuan Smith added another with a 20-yard touchdown grab. Defensively, Gavin Leach and Josh Celiscar combined for 12 tackles and three sacks, while James Chenault and Jaelen Stokes each grabbed an interception to keep the energy high on both sides of the ball. “It gives you goose bumps to walk out and play a game on campus,” Golesh said after the game, adding that he’s already fired up for the fall of 2027 when USF will officially host games on campus. 📸 Photos by Kendall Bulkiewi...
