Buccal massage is often spoken about as if it were one specific technique. It isn’t. Intraoral manual work has been used in different forms and for different purposes. Today, you can find intraoral techniques in aesthetic practice as well as manual and physical therapy approaches to the jaw and surrounding tissues. And these approaches can look very different. Some techniques use considerable pressure. Some concentrate heavily on the masseter and other muscles of mastication. Some incorporate stretching and a much more intensive manipulation of the tissues. I took different approach I developed my own aesthetic buccal massage after studying other methods and realizing that a stronger approach did not fit my philosophy of working with the face. My work is extremely gentle. Light does not mean superficial. The intention is to work carefully with the tissues around the jaw and temporomandibular area without forcing them.
