Don’t make this mistake while trekking in Annapurna Base Camp. Most people start their descent from ABC around 8–9 AM. We started at 11 AM. That itself wasn’t the biggest problem. The real problem was that some of us were walking slowly, taking frequent breaks, and eventually we lost a lot of time. By evening, we should have stopped at Dovan. But we thought… “Bamboo is just two hours away. We’ll make it.” We were wrong. Somewhere between Dovan and Bamboo, the weather suddenly changed. The sky turned dark, clouds rolled in, and within minutes, it felt like the entire jungle had disappeared into darkness. Then came the rain. Heavy, relentless rain.
