I oppose HJR 4. HJR 4 would take away Idahoans’ ability to use the citizen initiative process to legalize or decriminalize marijuana and give that power exclusively to the Legislature. And yes, I support legalizing and regulating marijuana. That does not mean turning Idaho into California, Oregon, or Washington. It means joining most of the country in recognizing that adults should not be treated like criminals for something legal in one form or another across nearly every other state. I believe in personal responsibility, limited government, and keeping government out of people’s private lives. Regulate it. Tax it. Keep it away from kids. Punish impaired driving. Let law enforcement focus on real crime. And most importantly, do not take the decision away from Idaho voters. You do not have to like marijuana to understand why HJR 4 should concern you.
