On 9/11, Beth Marr’s father, John Marr of FDNY Engine 34/Ladder 21, responded to the attacks alongside the rest of his firehouse. In the months that followed the collapse of the Twin Towers, Marr devoted himself to the rescue, recovery, and relief efforts, while also spending countless hours supporting the widows, families, and loved ones grieving unimaginable loss.
Years later, John Marr passed away from a 9/11-related illness, one of the many first responders who continued to bear the lasting impact of that day. Today, his legacy lives on through the courage, compassion, and selflessness he showed both during and after September 11.
