uber has officially launched self-driving rides in London, the first time autonomous trips have been available to the public anywhere in the UK. 🇬🇧 Riders requesting an UberX, Uber Electric, or Uber Comfort may now be matched with an all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E powered by London based AI company wayveai, at no extra cost. Passengers can accept the autonomous car or switch to a regular Uber before it arrives, and the cars can travel anywhere in London apart from airports. The rides are not fully driverless yet. A TfL licensed driver stays onboard to supervise during this first phase, and Uber says it is starting with a small fleet before expanding gradually.
