This yellowtail run in 2026 is pretty good. We haven't had this kind of opportunity on the beach with this kind of volume and quality in 11 years! I will say that 2015 bite on the 150 seemed like it was easier. Plenty of messages and posts lately of how much struggle there is with this current fishing landscape. The boat traffic, the bait or lack of, the stinking birds and sea lions and the @thequalifiedcaptain moments. This season has been great, but more challenging. That's ok with me. I enjoy this part of the experience. Some days you can make flower arrangements with them in the @yeti bucket fairly easily. Others, we are working HARD for 1-4 opportunities. Details matter, mechanics matter, gear matters, execution matters, EVERYTHING matters. My freshwater anglers might recognize these details, because this is all the same process of piecing the puzzle.
