Late in the first quarter against UTEP on Friday night at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, John Mateer sat in the pocket and let the play develop before dropping a deep ball into the fifth-year tight end's hands wide open downfield. With nothing but green grass ahead, Beers turned upfield, and as UTEP corner Justin Content closed in near the goal line, he leaped clean over him and took two steps into the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown. The score was the Sooners' third of the game and the first of the season for an Oklahoma tight end room now led by first-year position coach Jason Witten.
