25th-ranked Oregon handed previously unbeaten Missouri its first loss of the season, coming back from an opening-set deficit to win 16-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 at Hearnes Center.
Missouri came out strong, cruising to a 25-16 win in the opening set behind aggressive serving and a .565 hitting percentage. Head coach Dawn Sullivan credited her team's fast start, and the crowd added extra energy, particularly during the return of former Missouri player Marina Crownover, now with Oregon.
Oregon adjusted from there, breaking open the second set with a 6-0 run to even the match at 25-16, then closing out the third and fourth sets 25-20 and 25-19 to complete the comeback. Sullivan said afterward that Missouri became more predictable offensively as the match went on and eased off the serving pressure that had disrupted Oregon early.
