8th-ranked Texas A&M secured its first win of the season, downing Grand Canyon 3-1 by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 15-25, 25-13 in the opening match of the Texas A&M Invitational at Reed Arena, the defending national champions' home opener of the 2026 campaign.
Texas A&M came out firing, opening the first set with a 6-0 run behind the serve of Gabi Rodriguez to seize early control. Middle blocker Eliza Sharp was the offensive standout of the match, spearheading a dominant showing with 12 kills on a blistering .647 hitting percentage while adding six blocks at the net. The Aggies carried that momentum through the second set as well, but Grand Canyon came out with far more fight in the third, flipping the script to win it 25-15 and forcing a fourth set. Texas A&M regrouped and closed out the match decisively, 25-13, to seal the win.
