REVIEW: If it wasn’t clear before this all-timer of a set, Ren is an absolute phenomenon.
The last few weeks have seen him make his way back on stage for the first time in three years, and that time away has allowed him to craft a show that is more than just music.
It is theatre, therapy, community outreach, and emotional outpouring by the bucket load. And it feels like he has saved all of his most exuberant energy for All Points East.
Every bar he spits is splattered with all of the hurt and heart that have inspired them, every guitar solo is dispatched with laser-pointed precision, and every shift in tone and sound is silky smooth. Matched with an animated visual that ebbs and weaves with the same ambition and expression as the songs that accompany them, his hour on stage is impossible to take your eyes off and even more impossible not to be deeply affected by.
