A recent tragedy involving a Nigerian-British taxi driver prompted me to create this post. He was sentenced to six years in prison after falling asleep at the wheel in what investigators described as a “microsleep”, causing a collision that took the life of a man who had stopped in a lay-by to rest. Investigators found he had been driving for around 53 hours over the three days before the crash, including around 12 hours immediately before the collision with only minor breaks. My heart goes out to the family who lost their loved one. There are no winners in a tragedy like this. And I cannot help but wonder what he was carrying. Was it the pressure to provide? The responsibility of building a better future? The weight of bills, family expectations, and the constant need to keep going?
