Function first. Balance follows. This was a complex orthognathic case planned together with Dr. Zeynep Tuncer dr.zeyneptuncer following comprehensive orthodontic treatment. To address her facial asymmetry and underlying skeletal discrepancy, we performed a multi-piece Le Fort I osteotomy and bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO). The objective was not simply to change facial proportions. The surgical plan was designed first around function — improving the relationship between the upper and lower jaws, dental occlusion, and overall jaw mechanics — while creating better structural balance across the face. What I particularly appreciate about orthognathic surgery is that function and aesthetics are inseparable.
