Back in 2006 @oprah hosted a legends ball. Do any of you remember that? It was a three day celebration honoring 25 African American Women in art, entertainment, and civil rights. It was like nothing I had ever seen. And although I clearly was not in attendance, that celebration left an indescribable impression on my spirit. It showed me that all things are possible if you just believe and demonstrated the importance of giving your sheroes their flowers while they are still alive to enjoy them even if, they do not know who you are :-). That event took place years before I began to study perfumery. I tucked it away in my heart and mind as encouragement to study and hone my craft as a perfumer despite the fact that I did not see anyone who looked like me in the profession.
