Meet Melody Hicks, project manager, quality, safety and performance at Holland Bloorview. For Melody, creating safer care is about bringing staff, physicians, leaders, clients and families together to build a culture where everyone plays a role in safety. After beginning her career as a critical care nurse, Melody witnessed firsthand how teamwork, communication and strong systems can shape outcomes for children and families. Today, through Holland Bloorview's Caring Safely program and partnerships with the Children's Hospitals' Solutions for Patient Safety Network, she helps advance initiatives that strengthen safety, improve care experiences and support high reliability across the organization. One of the achievements she's most proud of is helping engage families as active partners in safety through co-designed programs and resources that empower them to speak up and participate in their child's care journey.
