VOLUNTEERS are our backbone at CORK!
Long before competitors arrive, they are prepping boats, inflating marks, preparing opening speeches, assigning other volunteers roles, helping with bids, setting up computers for communication, cleaning up the trailer, writing NoR’s and Sailing Instructions, setting up the sail room, preparing safety manuals, taking courses, scheduling launch and haul out, sewing mast sleeves, buying parts, having zoom calls….the list is endless!!!
Then the event begins and they are…yes…still fixing boats! And also showing up early to meet the team and discuss the weather and the day, checking you all in, then setting up and managing your race course (and switching it on the fly when the wind decides to shift!), taking care of accidents, pulling sailors out of the water, launching boats, measuring boats, carrying marks, teaching others, picking up garbage, bringing boats in, organizing laser hill, taking care of protests, staying until the last hearing has been h...
