A group of Arizona State University students traveled thousands of miles to rural Kenya to help bring clean drinking water to roughly 500 students. 💧🌍 Members of ASU’s Engineers Without Borders chapter spent nearly a year planning, fundraising and designing a borehole well project before traveling to Kenya to help complete it. Working alongside local contractors, community members and students, the team helped install a sustainable water system connected to an underground aquifer between two rural schools. Before the project, many families in the area relied on distant ponds for water, sometimes walking miles to collect it despite the water often being contaminated. The project continues a partnership that dates back to 2011, with ASU students completing multiple sustainable engineering projects in the region over the years.
