A woman trying to get home to Tempe after leaving a Phoenix bar somehow ended up nearly 100 miles away near Tucson, where authorities say she caused a wrong-way rollover crash on I-10. 😳
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, multiple 911 calls came in around 2:30 a.m. on June 14 reporting a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes near Cortaro Farms Road. Troopers later responded to a crash near Avra Valley Road after the wrong-way driver sideswiped another vehicle, causing it to roll onto its roof.
DPS says the woman told troopers she had been drinking alcohol and using marijuana at a Phoenix bar and was attempting to drive home to Tempe. A breath test showed a 0.214 BAC, nearly three times Arizona’s legal limit of 0.08.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital. The other driver was treated and released, while DPS later said the wrong-way driver remained hospitalized recovering from longer-term injuries. She was booked on multiple charges, including DUI....
