A 14-year-old in Gilbert has been given a key to the town after stopping to help a 75-year-old woman who was lost and disoriented in triple digit heat.
Royal Cothrun was riding his e-bike near South Valley Junior High School in June when he noticed Theresa Morgan walking alone near Lindsay and Galveston roads. He told FOX 10 that her face was pale and she just looked really worried and confused. Morgan was disoriented and mumbling, and told him she did not know where she was going.
Rather than continuing on, Cothrun stopped. He moved her into the shade, stayed with her, and worked with her until she was able to recall her son’s phone number so he could call for help. Jeff Morgan arrived minutes later, just ahead of the Gilbert Fire Department.
According to her family, Theresa Morgan had recently been diagnosed with dementia and had become disoriented while walking home from a grocery store, ending up miles from her house. Her son has said he believes Cothrun’s actions saved her life...
