Jordan Adetunji is starting to draw comparisons to 2013 PARTYNEXTDOOR š
After breaking out with āKEHLANIā in 2024, Jordan Adetunji has continued to shift his sound, with recent releases like āWho Is Itā and āDistractionā tapping into a much darker, more stripped-back side of his R&B. The hazy production, raw vocal delivery and almost intentionally unfinished feel of the records have specifically reminded listeners of the sound PARTYNEXTDOOR introduced on his self-titled debut in 2013 š„
Itās a pretty specific comparison too. Early PND stood out because his music didnāt feel overly polished. Distorted vocals, unconventional melodies and murky production were part of what made records like āWus Good / Curiousā and āTBHā feel so different at the time. Jordan Adetunji isnāt recreating that sound outright, but āWho Is Itā and āDistractionā seem to be scratching a similar itch for a new generationš
Could he be bringing that era of R&B back? š¤š„
