On September 5, 1975, just outside the State Capitol in Sacramento, California, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, a follower of Charles Manson, pointed a .45 caliber revolver in an attempt to assassinate President Gerald Ford.
When Fromme pulled the trigger, there was no bullet in the chamber. She was captured by Secret Service seconds later. Fromme was found guilty on November 26, 1975 and was given a life sentence.
In this video, Shawn discusses the spot where this all transpired 51 years ago near the corner of L and 12th Streets.
