LSU made a statement in the first game of the Lane Kiffin era. After a nearly two-hour weather delay pushed kickoff deep into the night, No. 11 LSU finally took the field against Clemson in a packed Death Valley. Clemson actually struck first, intercepting Sam Leavitt on LSU’s opening possession and turning it into a 49-yard field goal for an early 3–0 lead. It didn’t last long.
