In a current young adult market saturated with reused tropes and adaptations, “Sterling Point” gives us a breath of fresh air that’s desperately needed in today’s media landscape.
Media aimed for younger generations today has leaned on outdated humor and reheated arcs. A recent rise in book adaptations provides exciting news for original fans but also allows viewers to know how the story ends already.
“Sterling Point” makes it clear that Gen Z audiences deserve originality too, they deserve characters that aren’t flat and formulaic — premade for edits and packaged neatly. The series doesn’t need stereotypes of Gen Z as phone-obsessed people who are entitled and only speak in slang. To give them representation in media shows must give them legitimate personalities.
Safe to say, “Sterling Point” is bound to leave a lasting impression as a coming-of-age story that isn’t afraid to let its characters breathe.
