One in seven people in the United States are food insecure, defined as having inadequate access, availability and stability of food. Some college campuses report up to four times the national average of food insecurity. The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is a Triangle-area resource offering food assistance and education to community members. On top of saving food from landfills and distributing it through community partners, the organization aims to combat diet-related illness through nutrition education and empower individuals to grow their own food. Feed the Pack Food Pantry is open to anyone with a Wolfpack One ID, including students, staff and faculty, to shop once a week to supplement their diets with free, healthy food. They serve about 400 individuals each week during the regular school year, and around 250 a week during the summer.
