This is not a knock on anesthesiologists or nurses, both of whom are some of my favorite people; it simply is another example of how middleman who create these “peer-to-peer” reviews not only delay care (e.g. an extensor tendon laceration should be repaired immediately without need for peer review), but they also don't even have the cases reviewed by doctors in the same specialty. 👉 If you want to start cutting out the middleman in healthcare, the power needs to go back to the doctors. In my mind, the best way to do that is to go independent and get back to private practice.
