Boundaries — formerly known as “rules” — have become the buzzword in parenting advice. Dr. Becky says that when kids don’t have firm boundaries, “it’s as if they are floating in space, untethered to a home base.” Parenting coach Jamie Glowacki credits the rise of gentle parenting with creating a generation of parents who don’t know how to say “no.” Dr. Mona Amin, a pediatrician with over 1 million Instagram followers, says, “boundaries build emotional regulation.” And apparently, millennial parents are uniquely awful at holding them. Such is the case for writer Erica Schwiegershausen, who, in recent months, has started to wonder if her child's refusal to follow rules is just who she is. Or worse — if it’s all Schwiegershausen’s fault. For #BoundariesWeek, Schwiegershausen tapped a parenting coach to help her lay down the law at home. See what happened at the link in bio.
