Culturally, we’ve never been more fluent in “the importance of setting boundaries” with our friends, our families, and our jobs. But many people feel those same rules don’t apply to creators online.
When influencers don’t explain why they divorced their perfect husband, or what happened to their adorable dog, or why they suddenly dropped two dress sizes, their comment sections often become angry and entitled. Some call it a lie, some call it a secret, but such an omission can turn people into entitled sleuths, looking for answers from fellow followers or on snarky, conspiracy-minded Reddit boards.
