WHAT IS THE UMP DOING 🤦‍♂️ Hancel Rincon’s MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals quickly became one of the strangest debuts of the season. In the sixth inning against the Colorado Rockies, home-plate umpire Doug Eddings stopped play and instructed Rincon to straighten his slightly tilted hat. Rincon complied, but the unusual interruption drew immediate attention—especially because it came during the pitcher’s first-ever Major League appearance. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol came out to defend Rincon and questioned Eddings over the decision, eventually getting ejected after the argument escalated. Marmol later called the incident embarrassing and criticized what he viewed as an unnecessary distraction during Rincon’s debut. Despite the bizarre moment and a rough outing, Rincon’s historic first appearance will be remembered for much more than the hat controversy, as the Cardinals ultimately rallied to beat Colorado 7-6. #stlcardinals #baseball #mlb
