Never thought I’d ever say I ran Hood to Coast with my Nike teammates 🏃🏾‍♂️. If you’re not familiar, htcrelay is a nearly 200-mile relay race here in Oregon that starts at Mt. Hood and finishes at the Oregon coast. Teams are made up of 12 runners, split between two vans of 6, with each runner taking on 3 different legs along the way to the coast. Our team finished in a little over 31 hours, which meant for 31 hours, we basically lived in a van. I was runner 6, and my 3 legs were roughly 10 hours apart and added up to 16.5 miles. For years, this was one of those things I’d hear about and think, “Why would anyone ever want to do that!?” Yet somehow, here I am after running it! All the marathon training definitely had me ready for my runs but nothing prepared me for running on just a few hours of sleep and being stuck in a van till we finished.
