BREAKING: The Center and our allies just challenged President Trump’s unlawful decimation of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Southern Utah. In July 2026, Trump slashed nearly 3 million acres of public lands, habitat, cultural sites, recreation areas, history. With the stroke of his pen, 90% of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments were cut — nearly eliminating them both entirely. This was one of the largest rollbacks of public land protections in American history and it was illegal. We're fighting back alongside our allies, but this fight is just getting started.
