Giant milestone in my life, today, I became a United States of America citizen. A dream that started more than a decade ago, living in Los Angeles, doing what I love, surrounded by people I love. I always knew from early age I will end up in a nation that is bound by ideals - a place beyond birth, blood or soil. Continuously seeking freedom from early age - “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” was a line that resonated with me to my core. Today marks a huge step for this dream - and perhaps a reminder for some to realize what it takes. It took all my strength - and I would do it again in a heart beat. As I am reminded today, a different type of work starts now. A new responsibility to participate, to support, to volunteer - to serve my community.
