At the start of the school year, the Shawnee Mission School District implemented three new communication apps to replace old programs and align school-wide communication with House Bill 2299 a bell-to-bell personal electronic device ban.
Last year, GroupMe was a popular messaging platform used by sports, clubs and certain classes like AP Chemistry. However, due to the bill, it has been taken off the district-approved communication list and replaced by other platforms including Bound, Band and ParentSquare.
