When freshman Colton Kinnard needs to travel between the second and fourth floors, there’s only one elevator he can use that connects the upper and lower levels of SM East. Within the first week of school, that elevator was broken.  Though support staff repaired the elevator the same day it broke down, the incident highlighted accommodation concerns in a building approaching 70 years of age. This year, to prepare for three new freshmen who use wheelchairs, SM East has hired new paraprofessionals and updated infrastructure over the summer.
