Gronk vs. Kelce Kelce has the longevity, the receptions, the yards and one of the greatest postseason résumés a tight end has ever put together. Nobody can take that away from him. But if I’m choosing one tight end at his absolute peak, I’m taking Rob Gronkowski. Prime Gronk was basically a cheat code. Too fast for linebackers, too big for defensive backs, ridiculous hands in traffic, dominant after the catch, and unlike most receiving-first tight ends, the dude could line up and block like an extra offensive lineman. You weren’t taking him off the field regardless of what New England wanted to run. And when Brady needed him in the biggest moments, everybody knew where the ball was going and defenses still struggled to stop it. Kelce might finish with the better overall resume, but better football player at their absolute best?
