1 year ago, Lola Young released ‘SPIDERS.’
Solomonophonic and William "Manuka" Brown co-wrote and produced 'Spiders' with Lola Young, releasing it as the fourth single from her third studio album, 'I'm Only F**king Myself,' just two weeks before the full record's arrival. She'd already debuted the song live at Coachella that April, months before its official release, giving fans an early taste of one of the album's more emotionally direct moments.
Young has described the track's central metaphor as being about facing what genuinely terrifies you, saying it started as a way of processing her relationship with her manager before evolving into something closer to a personal lifeline during a period when she'd stopped caring about her own wellbeing. The Conor Cunningham-directed video leaned fully into that imagery, opening with Young calmly holding an enormous spider before confronting it head-on, visually reinforcing her message that facing fear head-on strips it of its power.
